Young Bucs Cheer 2025
We are so happy you are here! Our 2025 Young Bucs (YB) Cheer Program is prepared to bring you new material, vibrant additions to our coaching staff, elevated skill drills, and a whole new level of fun! Our hope for the incoming season is that not only are you signing your child up for team bonding, technique building, and a fantastic way to stay active, but also a way of getting them and YOU involved in our community. As the Grand Haven cheer program continues to grow, we need support from our parents, at the team level, in the stands, and on our committees. We know the time we have with our littles goes by quick and what better way to stay present than by getting involved and supporting them, hands on, while they do what they love. Keep an eye out for opportunities, such as head coaching positions, volunteer parent coaching positions, event committees, "Buried Treasure" awards, and so much more. Let’s get ready…..THE WAVE IS COMING!
Registration
Early Bird Special - Thursday, May 1st – 7:00pm – Midnight - $140.00
Standard Registration – Friday, May 2nd – Friday, May 30th - $165.00
Team size is limited. If a team fills to capacity, a waitlist will become available. Should there be enough participants on a waitlist, and qualified coaches available, there may be the possibility of opening an additional team. If placed on a waiting list, your payment will not be processed until your athlete is placed on a team roster.
There is a hard cut off on May 30th. Registration requests after this date will not be accepted due to the tight turnaround time for uniform and equipment orders.

Uniforms & Poms
Uniforms
This will be the LAST YEAR for our current uniform. The entire program will have a new design for the 2026 season.
We encourage you to join our uniform Facebook page, Young Bucs Cheer Uniform Swap/Sale, to help each other out, save $$$, and recycle uniforms for the last year of the current uniform design.
Uniform try-on day is scheduled for Monday, May 12th from 5-7pm at the Lakeshore Middle School cafeteria. More info to follow.
The link to purchase new unform pieces for the season will be available on May 1st.
Poms
Poms will be the same as years past. Gently used K/1 poms will be available at a discounted price during the uniform try-on event. A group order for new K-6 poms will be taken for anyone needing new poms. Group ordering cuts down on the shipping costs. We highly recommend taking part in the group order, if needed. Orders will be taken in May. More info to follow.

Anyone wishing to order pom tags, orders will be taken at the uniform try-on event.
Team Info
K-3rd Grade Teams
Beginning the week of August 18th, for the first 3 weeks of the season, these teams will practice 2x/week. Practices are Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Starting the week of Sept 8th, these grade level teams will practice 1x/week, every Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm. All practices will be held at the GHHS soccer practice field (behind the school). Please note, because of the size of our group if practice gets cancelled due to weather, there is no indoor option. Practice attire should be comfortable athletic wear and cheer shoes. Cheerleaders can wear their YB T-shirts to each practice if they wish (not required). Bring a water bottle and dress for the temperature. It is a bit of a hike from the GHHS parking lot back to the practice field, so please plan accordingly.
Games held at the GHHS Football Field/Practice Fields on Saturdays.

4th Grade Team

Practice attire should be comfortable athletic wear and cheer shoes. Cheerleaders can wear their YB T-shirts to each practice if they wish (not required). With YB Tackle Football participating in the West Michigan Junior Football League, our 5/6th grade cheer team will travel to away games to support our partner football teams. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for transportation to Saturday games. We are awaiting the release of the game schedule (anticipate release in August).

GAMES
Games are Saturdays beginning (tentatively) September 6th and running through October 18th. More to come on game times once we receive information from Young Bucs Football. Full uniform for each game which includes: white bodysuit, skirt, shell, navy sport shorts, white no show socks, white cheer shoes and bow. As the weather gets cooler, please consider all navy leggings, gloves, head band/hat. Cheerleaders should arrive for games 15 minutes prior to game start time and check in for attendance at the south end of the track. After attendance is taken, cheerleaders will be escorted to their spots on the track for warmups and game time! Games last approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour. Please pick up your cheerleader as they exit the track.
BATHROOM BREAKS
Any cheerleader who needs to use the restroom during a practice, game, or high school game will need to consult their parent / guardian. Young Bucs and/or GHHS staff will NOT be responsible for taking your child to use the restroom, nor will we have access to the GHHS restrooms. There will be a porta potty close by our practice field for your child to walk to independently if they need to use it.

COMMUNICATION
Our main forms of communication for the season will be EMAIL, Facebook and the Band app. Please scan the QR Code below so you have access to all necessary season information.
We would love if you would visit / follow our Facebook page, however this will NOT be our main communication platform.
CANCELLATIONS
Any cancellation of practice, game or event due to weather, schedule change or unforeseen circumstances will be sent via email and Band.

We have open positions on our board for Members at Large. We would like to add a parent from each grade level to our team. Come see what we are all about!
